5 Devices Every College Student Needs

As college students, we enjoy conveniences in our daily lives to deal with the stress of classes, projects, and job searching.  Thanks to new and developing technologies, conveniences are becoming easier to come by which helps us figure out what we need to focus on aside from our first world problems. So, here are 5 devices that every college student needs to make their lives a little easier!

1. Portable Charger

Instead of being rooted to one spot by the wall waiting for your phone to charge even 1%,  portable chargers are a must-have for students who are on-the-go and need extra juice for that battery sucking smartphone.  Portable chargers can range from smaller, slimmer versions that can hold up to 2 hours worth of charge to a slightly bigger version that can hold up to 5 hours.  Nowadays they can be purchased online and anywhere normal phone chargers are sold!

2. Noise Cancelling Headphones

With the ability to block out outside sounds, noise-cancelling headphones are a must for a student studying in a bustling library or cafe.  While a bit bulky, they provide the silence (or music) for those who need to concentrate without the distraction of other noises. One of the most reputable and well-known brands is Bose, which allows you to enjoy quiet moments with whatever music or videos you wish to play.

3. E-Reader

E-Readers such as the Kindle Fire or Nook are great for decreasing the number of weighty textbooks to carry around.  Not to mention many textbooks are E-Reader compatible and available right away after purchase, so there’s no lengthy wait time or worry about missing assignments in case books are coming in late.  Most E-Readers also have the ability to highlight and take notes within the E-Book just in case you need to jot something down!

4. External Hard Drive

One of the best investments if you anticipate on having a ton of digital files and expect to use a lot of storage on your laptop. External hard drives allow you that extra storage space, as well as the ability to back up your laptop if anything gets lost, so hours spent writing that essay are saved in the blink of an eye!

5. Laptop Cooling Pad

Laptop cooling pads are great for older laptops or laptops that have been worked especially hard.  Laptop cooling pads do just that: they keep a laptop from overheating. This is not only good for the laptop but it saves from a potential random shutdown or worse, a meltdown. Laptop cooling pads come in all kinds of styles and colors, and in general are fairly cheap.  It also prevents the overheated laptop from burning you when you try to pick it up!
