Tips on Motivation

With the semester almost coming to an end, we all feel drained and patiently waiting for the summer break. Due dates for final papers, presentations, and projects are quickly approaching; however, we need to finish the semester strong. Below are just a few tips that you may find useful to get you through.

Relax and Meditate for 5 mins a day

Meditation is said to reduce stress levels, improve concentration, and increase happiness. Just sitting still for 5 minutes can change your whole mindset on things. You feel refreshed and determined to take on new tasks.

Plan tomorrow today

You cannot believe how progressive this simple action is. Writing out your daily activities of the day the night before, plan your outfit for the day, this will get you excited for the day and will save you a lot of time getting ready in the morning.

Use your planner well

Write down all your assignments, meetings and important due dates in your planner as it will be easier to remember them. Your day will go smoothly as you will be aware of all events of the day.

Use inspirational quotes, songs

DJ Khaled, the Kid President, Shia LaBeouf’s “Just do it.” These are just few people who give free motivational advice, yes they are funny but if you actually listen to they can make your day go a whole lot better. Listen to uplifting songs or your favorite ones.

Don’t be a perfectionist

Just do the best you can at the allocated time you have. If the paper or work you are working on is not up to your standards, it’s fine because at least you did something.

Remind yourself of your goals before you give up/ imagine your life if you succeed

If you are overwhelmed and feel like you want to give up, simply remind yourself these questions: Why you are doing the work? Why are you in College? Why are you taking this class? Why are you finishing this project? There is a light at the end of the tunnel and it will be worth the pain and misery you are going through presently.

Help others

If you want to feel good about yourself, help someone else that is in need of assistance. Why have the knowledge and not share it? Your confidence level will increase and the person receiving your assistance gets the help they need. It’s a win for both sides.

Celebrate your success

Go out with your friends for a drink (if you are old enough), indulge with food, treat yourself to a pampering session, get you nails done, or whatever makes you happy in the end. Celebrate your success of the week and tell yourself “I DID IT!”
