So, you may have heard before that knowing how to code is a great way to boost your resume. Well now you can finally assure your anxious parents that you have some really marketable skills by learning to code online! There are lots of tutorials out there, but let’s take a look at two of the largest sites, Codecademy and Code School!
Codecademy provides courses in many different coding languages, giving you several options to choose from. It also has courses that teach you practical skills, like how to develop a professional website.
The courses at Codecademy are guided exercises, which allow you to learn at your own pace while still getting the help you need.
Code School is similar to Codecademy, with many different languages offered as courses. However, Code School has “paths,” sets of lessons that can be taken together to learn a larger, overall skill. This is a nice organization bonus, and it helps you connect the skills you learn in each lesson to the big picture goal and what you can do with them.
The big disadvantage to Code School? Not all of the courses are free. Many are, but to unlock all the content there is a monthly subscription fee.
Both of these websites are great resources to learn how to code and to gain some other great computer skills. Whichever you choose, know you’re learning wonderful skills that will help you get ahead!
